What is the self milking cow?

  • Concept comes from a well known marketer named Dean Jackson.
  • The idea is that a cow can’t milk itself, it needs someone else (the farmer in this example) to milk them
  • If you are a creative person, it’s hard to bring those ideas out of yourself
  • It may help to have someone else to talk with to bring out your ideas

  • 1. Acquisition – This means increasing numbers, the number of customers or clients you have.
  • 2. Ascension – Increasing the average sale.
  • 3. Monetization – Increasing how much they buy, how often they buy.

The problem is we tend to get caught up in the 1st step, it’s the hardest to get (acquiring new customers) and we tend to focus little or not at all on the other two options.

P.S. – Just in case it wasn’t clear, Brian was joking about the Rolls Royce. 🙂
